The proposed solution addresses one of the gaps in the current blood supply chain scenario, that is,
monitoring of every blood bag unit, end to end using the cloud-connected device so that reliability of blood
products can be assured. The solution is expected to increase confidence in establishing more blood storage
centres and hence tackle the non-availability blood in rural India.
We developed a blood bag monitoring system which will be monitoring the storage conditions of blood bags while it is transported and stored. Currently, blood bags taken out from a blood bank can not be returned since there is no authenticated end to end data regarding the storage condition. Using our solution we will be able to provide data regarding vein to vein that is from donor to patient. Our approach is bringing a process innovation in the blood supply chain in an affordable way which can be easily adapted to the Indian market where resources and money are the main constraints. Each blood product (blood bag) comes with a unique radiofrequency identity (RFID) and every storage or transport unit have an RFID scanner and efficient, smart temperature sensors. The bagmo blood bag monitoring solution monitor the blood bag from donor to the patient to ensure efficient supply of blood in blood bank and its associated blood storage centres. When a blood bag is transferred to a storage unit from the blood bank, its entry is noted by the RFID scanner fitted to that particular storage unit. This, in turn, is connected via the internet to a central monitoring system ( Bagmo Tracker web app ) which now starts recording the temperature and position of the blood bag. Mother blood bank can trace each blood bags then decide the reliability on each unit based on this information.
